Nam Myoho Renge Kyo

Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is an ancient Buddishist chant/mantra which is from the Lotus Sutra. "Nam" means to honor and Myoho Renge Kyo is the title of the Lotus Sutra which is the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. Thus the mantra "Namu Myoho Renge Kyo" means "I honor the Universal Mystical Law of Cause and Effect."
Chanting Namu Myoho Renge Kyo, is a powerful practice that releases the chanter's present karma / challenges creating new roots or causes for the flowering of the meditator's personal enlightenment and bringing into being wonderful changes in life and consequent happiness. the Universal Mysical Law of Cause and Effect is regarded as the ultimate teaching of Buddhism.
New Thought is predicated on the understanding the Law of Cause and Effect making this chant the ideal chant for the New Thought Seeker. This chant has been used by a number of famous people to transform their lives, most notably Tina Turner. Turner is portrayed doing the chant in the movie "What's Love Got to Do With It." It has changed the lives of millions of people around the globe.
The word "mantra" is composed, in sanskrit, of two root words. "Man" means" mind", or "thinking", and "tra" to "release or free". Therefore the meaning is to free the mind and thinking from the material sphere of consciousness and to be able to transcend the wheel of "samsara" or "birth and death within this physical world".
A mantra (from Sanskrit manas, mind, thinking principal; tra, to protect and take beyond) serves as a focusing device to keep attention removed from involvement with random thoughts and emotional states. When breathing is slow and refined, and when thoughts and emotions are calmed, clear states of awareness are naturally experienced. The influence of meditative calmness on the mind and body nurtures the positive effects.
